Job Description

Join Shirley Oaks Hospital in Croydon as a Pharmacy Assistant. Assist in the preparation, labelling, and distribution of medicines under supervision in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and labelling of medicines for inpatients, outpatients, and discharge prescriptions under appropriate supervision.
  • Support the safe supply of medicines, ensuring accurate picking, packing, and distribution to wards and departments.
  • Ensure all processes follow local policies and national regulations related to medicine handling and safety.
  • Monitor stock levels and expiry dates, helping maintain accurate inventory across the pharmacy and clinical areas.
  • Receive and check deliveries, ensuring correct storage of medications in line with temperature and security guidelines.
  • Assist with stock rotation and removal of expired or returned medicines.

Qualifications

  • Good general education including literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience in a customer service, healthcare, or stock-handling role.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under supervision.
  • Experience working in a pharmacy or healthcare environment.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or willingness to undertake.
  • Familiarity with stock management systems or pharmacy software.
  • Awareness of medicines safety, confidentiality, and infection prevention practices.
