Job Description

Leeds City Council is seeking a Principal Legal Officer (PO6) to work part-time in the area of Children's Social Care Law. The role involves managing a complex caseload, acting as an advocate in contested hearings, and supporting the delivery of the Council's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake a substantial personal caseload of complex legal professional work, primarily in children's social care law
  • Support the generation of external income and mentor staff within the section
  • Represent council colleagues and clients in legal proceedings
  • Provide legal advice and support to committees and clients

Qualifications

  • Solicitor or Barrister entitled to hold a practicing certificate or FCILEX
  • Legal Executive Advocate Certificate (Family)
