Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with a proven technical ability to join our team of Senior Technical Officers (STO) in Climate Change Trading and Regulatory Services (CCTRS). Do you want to help create a better place for people, wildlife and the environment? Do you want to help regulate business and industry to reduce CO2 emissions, improve air quality and tackle the climate emergency? Within our part of the Environment Agency we oversee the full range of compliance activities under several energy efficiency/emissions reduction regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Registering and supporting operators within the UK Emissions Trading Scheme
  • Assessing compliance against energy efficiency/emissions reduction regulations
  • Providing advice and guidance to those we regulate
  • Interpreting new guidance and regulations
  • Developing internal guidance
  • Training and mentoring colleagues
  • Taking enforcement action to bring operators/organisations back into compliance
  • Working with external stakeholders to review and improve regulation

Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communication
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
An eye for detail and accuracy
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office particularly Word/Excel
Develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
Ability to adapt to new systems
Can prioritize workflows and be agile and innovative
Strong team player
Promote cross regime working within the department and promote a culture of 'one team'
Experience of compliance and enforcement would be desirable.
